About the dance
Every woman on this earth is shaped differently, no two alike! So every woman looks uniquely beautiful in her own way in this dance, no matter her size, shape, physical fitness, or age!
To begin to channel and move energy with your body, you first have to BE in your body! Belly dance is a wonderful way to bring you fully into your body in the present moment. It’s a very feminine dance in its sinuous and serpentine lines, allowing you to experience being in flow—it’s as much an internal dance as it is an external dance.
Classes are based in Tribal Fusion and American Tribal Style, these are group-improvised formats that fuse Middle Eastern dance with North African folk dances and Romani (gypsy) dance, including Flamenco and East Indian stylizations. The movements are more “earthy” than other styles of belly dance. The improvisational aspects create a certain sense of spontaneity and freedom, and an incredible psychic connection forms between you and the other dancers that’s magical to experience and see performed. It’s evocative of a time a when the tribe came together to dance.
Most of Jennifer’s dance training and performing has been since 2003, in Cabaret, American Tribal Style, Tribal Fusion Belly Dance, and sacred and ecstatic dance practices. She has been teaching Sacred Dance technique, Tribal Style Belly Dance, and conducting Shamanic Trance Dances since 2006. Her many teachers and influences include Meleah, Mellissa Seaman, Kypris, Devora, Laura Creatrix, Zara Vaughn, Heather Stants, Cassie, Sabrina Fox, Karen Tapia, Rachel Brice, and Mardi Love.
